Privacy policy

Effective October 28, 2026. This policy covers the VirgoTV Android phone app, Android TV app and the service at virgoiptv.com.

Information used to provide the service

When you use an OTT account, the service processes your provider code, username, optional account email and display name, and password hash. The app sends a randomly generated installation identifier, device name, model, manufacturer, operating system, app version and device type. The service also processes network IP addresses, login sessions, access limits and channel viewing records.

Favourites and recently watched channel lists are stored in the app's private storage on your device. The access token is encrypted using Android Keystore. Your password is sent over HTTPS when signing in and is not stored in the app. Website account and session information is stored separately from OTT accounts.

Website banner clicks may record the banner, page placement, IP address, browser user agent and time for the operator's banner reports. These website banners are separate from the native Android app.

Purpose and recipients

Information is used to authenticate you, deliver channels, enforce account and device permissions, maintain security and diagnose service faults. The app contains no advertising SDK and no third-party analytics SDK. Video and channel image providers receive ordinary network request information when your device loads their content directly. When the service relays media, its hosting infrastructure handles those requests instead.

Cookies and device permissions

The website uses session cookies for login, security and account actions. The Android app uses internet access and network status permissions. It does not request contacts, location, microphone, camera or shared storage permissions. It does not download channels for offline viewing.

Retention and controls

You can remove registered devices from the app. You can delete your OTT account in the app under Settings → Delete my account, or through the account deletion page. Deletion removes the OTT account, associated device records, sessions and viewing records. Activation codes associated with a deleted account are disabled and detached. Website accounts can be deleted separately through the same page. Local app preferences can also be removed by clearing app data or uninstalling.

The bundled cleanup command removes expired playback records after seven days, expired rate limit records after one day and old programme guide records after two days when the operator schedules it. Other service records remain while an account is active unless deleted. The operator must keep any configured backups secure and apply its documented backup rotation. Security or legal records may need separate retention where required.
